Wellness in Bath – bathe like the Romans
Once a trendy spot for high society during the summer months, Bath is now one of the most attractive small towns in England. In addition to its culture, architecture and history, Bath is especially famous for its Roman baths and its medicinal waters.

According to legend, the hot springs were discovered by the royal Celtic prince Bladud even before the Romans. Suffering from leprosy and banished, the prince became a swineherd. A bath in these waters is said to have healed both the prince and his herd from the disease.

“The Roman baths” are open until 10 pm throughout the summer and offer the special experience of exploring the baths, suffused in mystical atmosphere, by torchlight and candlelight.

The entry price includes an audio guide offering a choice of several languages. Every Wednesday in July and August, there are also the “Wednesday Wonders”, offering visitors an extra tour between 6 pm and 8 pm to hear more about the history and background of the archaeological treasures.

Today, these old baths are no longer used for bathing. However, in the adjacent restaurant, the waters of Britain’s only mineral spa can be savoured.

If you would still like to bathe or enjoy spa treatment, the ideal opportunity is offered by the modern wellness centre with its open-air rooftop pool: www.thermaebathspa.com
