Have you already got plans for the May public holidays?
May is full of public holidays. 1st May, Ascension Day and Pentecost are all ideal opportunities to escape from the daily grind. Helvetic Airways has put together a few ideas for you...

The Baltic Sea:
Rostock and the surrounding area is all about sports during the Feast of the Assumption holiday (9 -12 May):
Warnemünde (10.5.-12.5.) and Usedom (14.5.-16.5.) Island will be hosting a beach polo tournament.

It’s also worth visiting the popular Surf Festival in Pelzerheken, near Travemünde. www.surffestival.de

If sport isn’t really your thing, you can indulge your musical side instead – with an orchestral concert at the Rostock Volkstheater on 11th and 12th May, featuring works from Richard Wagner, Franz Liszt and other masters. www.volkstheater.de

Bristol:
Unlike in Germany, England doesn’t have any religious public holidays except Christmas and Easter. Nonetheless, it’s worth spending a long weekend with the family in the cultural city of Bristol over the Pentecost holiday (17 – 20 May). On Saturday 18 May, the Spring Festival awaits, featuring acts by the city’s young talent. www.windmillcityfarm.com

The May Festival opens its doors from 17th to 27th May, with several different plays being performed across the city. www.mayfestbristol.co.uk

The Rainbow Run on 19 May is also something to watch out for. Your task on the day: start with a bright white t-shirt and reach the finish line completely drenched in colour! Find out more on www.rainbowrun.com

Timetable Helvetic Airways:
Rostock: Thursday, Sunday
Heringsdorf (Usedom): Saturday (from 11.5.13)
