Carlos Moya, Henri Leconte, Tim Henman, Pat Cash, Thomas Enqvist, Sergi Bruguera, Mansour Bahrami and Mikael Pernfors - everyone has heard of the former tennis greats. From 8th-11th October 2015, these legendary players will compete against each other in the Legends Cup, an ATP Champions Tour Event, playing great tennis at the Palma Sport & Tennis Club in the heart of the town of Palma de Mallorca.
The Legends Cup is the only competition on the professional tennis circuit that is held in Spain. To be eligible to compete in the ATP Champions Tour players must have been
- retired from ATP Circuit and either have been a
- ATP World No. 1 during their competitive playing careers.
- A Grand Slam singles finalist.
- A singles player in a victorious Davis Cup team
The historic tennis club, built in 1961 by Francesc Mitjans, was, at that time, a popular meeting place for international aristocrats. The club has been fully renovated and now offers over 10,000m2 of modern, refurbished premises, including five clay courts, a swimming pool, a spa zone, fitness area, restaurant and capacity for 500 spectators around the main court.
The Balearic paradise of Palma de Mallorca owes its prominence not only to the beauty and diversity of its natural setting and culture, but also to its sporting heritage; here, the clay court maestro Rafael Nadal is probably the most famous poster child of the island!
